21/1/2013 - 27/1/2013

This week I feel like I have furthered my understanding of the internal components of a computer and how to install them. I have learnt this through the filming and the research of both the Sound Card and the Video Card for our assessment in this unit. I learnt that a video card isn't always a seperate card that you can install on a computer and that sometimes, a computer has an in-built video card but this isn't as strong or as efficient as a video card that you install manually in a seperate slot.

14/01/2013 - 20/01/2013

In this week's lessons, I learnt the names and functions of all major pieces of hardware inside a computer such as the sound card (used to convert code into sound that is to be distributed via speakers), video card/graphics card (The larger your graphics/video card is, the higher resolution images your computer can display), RAM/ROM/CACHE memory (Different memory types have different purposes such as RAM which is used to allocate data from the computer's current settings and ROM which is a storgae unit that cannot be accessed by users generally) and a hard drive (a section of memory on a computer that users can access, install upon and save data to. It goes up in Bytes to KB, GB, TB, etc). This is useful as in my PDP I state that I have limited knowledge of the interior systems of a computer and the different cards and chips that exist within it. After this week, I feel that I am now comfortable in naming and describing what the interior components of a computer do.
